I tried to take out a new policy for my elderly parents 85+. At the point of payment the card was not accepted as they do not; a. Have a smart phone. b. Do not do any form of online banking. The transaction was refused 3 times. On calling the help desk they got me to reset pw and re try, again the payment refused for the same reason. I was then offered if I paid an additional £12.50 on top of the policy then the operator could complete the transaction. OAPs on benefits can't afford this. Disgusting practice. Ageism at its best. How many pensioners above 80 are in the same position and most probably are not insured because of this practice, not being able to use computers in any shape or form. This needs reviewing.
