I was contacted in good time about my renewal, and I can't say if it's a good policy as I've had no reason to contact you. The one thing I would say which is a bit annoying, is that there is no mention on any reminder or the confirmation of renewal which account the money is being taken out of. In my case I would not necessarily have the funds available so it would be helpful if the reminder stated the last four digits of the account from which the monies are being debited.
