We live in Weston, Connecticut. I regret signing my daughter up for Girl Scouts. Based on their website, it seemed like a supportive community where girls encourage each other, but our experience was completely different.
At one of the meetings, my daughter ran out of the activities in tears twice. I saw other Girl Scouts saying mean things to her until she cried and left. Surprisingly, none of the adults stepped in to remind the girls to be kind and supportive. Instead, when things didn’t go the leader’s way, they would say hurtful things to upset others.
From what I’ve seen, Girl Scouts created a negative environment that didn’t teach good leadership or teamwork. My daughter and I never felt welcome from the start, so I decided to take her out of the program.
