My situation was a little unusual in that the 5-year old MacBook Pro belonged to my granddaughter. The screen was not working, so I took it to an Apple store. They said the screen would need to be replaced, which would not be cheap. They suggested a better plan would be to buy a new MacBook Air, which had similar specs, but with a faster processor.
We took that option, and my granddaughter said it was okay to trash the old MacBook. I had a feeling it could be recycled. Go Roostr came up in a Google Search.
With the screen not working, I could not pull up the data requested on the Go Roostr submission form. I contacted the company on a Sunday night. Adam replied Monday morning, and took care of me--getting the data I needed from the serial number.
With the screen problem, I doubted the unit would be worth much.
Adam suggested sending a couple of photos, so he could give me a decent estimate. They sent me a pre-paid shipping label. I got confirmation when they received the unit, along with confirmation of their offer. The check came to me quickly.
The entire process was friendly, supportive, and efficient. I ended up with a few bucks in my pocket for the energy spent.
I highly recommend these folks.
