Green Motion aims to make money, but not by providing good service. Because of a delayed flight I missed the last train towards home. Not wanting to be stuck at Stansted at night because I was needed at home for the kids, I booked a car online with Green Motion through Expedia. Expedia has been reputable, so likely Green Motion is also, right? I guess not. I booked a car with them to secure an automatic (hence rare in the UK and 3 times as expensive at £139.00), because my UK license requires it, though I drove manuals overseas for decades. It turns out one can neither drop off the car elsewhere nor add a driver who isn't present, even with a scan of her licence. Neither of those policies is absurd, but it made the rental pointless if my goal was to go home. So I didn't take the car. How much of a refund did I get from Green Motion? Nothing, despite going through Expedia. So for my tying up a car for c. 3 hours (which probably wasn't at all sure to be rented otherwise), riding a shuttle bus, and sitting in their office for 15 minutes, they choose to keep all £139.00. Why? Because they could. I infer that they don't care about providing good service, only about making money in the short run. On later reading other people's horror stories at being charged £1000 or more for damage that they didn't cause, I realize that I got off easily by never touching a car! I hope Expedia will drop Green Motion. Though Green Motion ripped me off 100%, Expedia, to its credit, did offer partial compensation when I threatened to cancel my account.
