Since I normally receive good to excellent service from GSF (and its predecessor companies/partners, with whom I have been dealing for about 40 years) it is unfortunate that this review is solicited after a less good, fragmented and unsatisfactory experience. However, there are at least 3 lessons to be learned! Noticing that my ATS replacement silencers lasted less time than the originals and Peugeot replacemements I decided to look at the options and decided a top quality product from GSF was worth a try, so I went on line to order the parts, selecting the appropriate vehicle from my stable/garage and looking at the complete exhaust parts list. There I found standard quality and Bosal silencers, and selected the Bosal. Knowing that the week point of Peugeot 406 exhausts was the hangers I decided to by replacement parts and a couple of spares. My basket was a Bosal fitting kit (two hangers and a clamp) PLUS two spare "better quality" hangers (also Bosal). Noticing that the illustrations of lugs were different on the two silencer options I decided on the Bosal hangers. Then things went wrong. 1) Silencer was available by post, as were the hangers, but not the kit. 2) Kit was available at local (16 miles round trip) store, but not the silencer. SO...I ordered the silencer and spare hangers online, phoned my local store to confirm availability then went to collect. HOWEVER, despite the fact that on;line and in-store the kit was supposed to be available there were none in stock. Ordered for next day - to be collected (another 16 mile trip). 3) Silencer and hangers arrived early next morning - excellent service - but the hangers did not fit the silencer (too small). Phone query to Birmingham suggested return via my local (Letchworth) branch (when collecting the kit); however, I wanted to get YOUR website sorted out. Your man in Birmingham initially denied that the hangers I had ordered were listed for my registration, but eventually we realised that they were - when he selected the Bosal hanger option - so I TRUST this has now been sorted. 4) I now have the kit (collected Saturday) but was unable to collect the correct (spare) hangers at Letchworth (not in stock), and since I had not taken the order number etc I was reluctant to return the unwanted hangers. These will be returned, with a copy of the paperwork next time I pass through Letchworth (I'm not making a special trip for a couple of spares). SO in summary - SORT OUT YOUR SYSTEMS - the people were very helpful and did their best to compensate for less than perfect stock control, stock reporting and parts matching. They also have to face the unfortunate customer! I am hoping that the strange noise from my GSF replacement starter motor (desperately fiddly to fit to the Peugeot 406) does not turn out to be a parts matching error - e.g. wrong size of teeth?? ....especially since it was only the solenoid at fault in the first place!!
