I have several GS pieces, and prefer cottons and linens, but unfortunately they just don't last and are not tough enough for travel. I usually keep clothes for decades (a Laura Ashley cotton skirt made in UK finally bit the dust), but I have had 2 bad experiences. A too-thin cotton skirt got caught on something at the airport and I had to stitch up the hole. But then after a short time the elastic waistband (I never use the dryer) stretched totally out of shape. I've made a few tucks and may try to replace the waistband, but the soft fabric is too flimsy to be practical. Plus my favorite, a linen dress that I loved for travel, one trip started disintegrating at the elbows. I have sewn up the holes, but will have to try adding some tougher fabric underneath. But sadly it is too worn to ever travel with again. These repairs should not be part of buying at these prices. The company needs to look carefully at its fabrics. Since most of the crazy patterns are too clown-like for me, very few items are of interest, so it will be easy to avoid future purchases. The high quality touted is just not there. I will try to stick to in-store shopping.
