The SIPP I started 6 years ago has not had even a single day when when it was worth as much as at the start. Currently 9.5% down (over £30k). I am paying over £109 a WEEK in charges. The return I get in dividends each month is less than it was at the start, even without allowing for inflation.
The staff are very helpful, the website is comprehensive and easy to use, but the abysmal performance that I am forced to pay extortionate charges for is utterly dreadful.
