I've been a loyal Uber Eats customer for years, ordering almost daily. Today, I placed a food order, but the restaurant called twice to tell me they were out of the item. They told me to cancel the order and said I wouldn’t be charged.
I followed their instructions and canceled. Then Uber Eats charged me anyway. When I contacted support, they refused a refund, blaming me for canceling even though the cancellation was due to the restaurant being unable to fulfill the order.
I just spoke to the restaurant again they confirmed they never charged me. This charge is 100% on Uber. I paid for food I never received, and Uber is refusing to take responsibility. This feels like a scam, and I won’t let it slide.
