I have no quibble with the recent assessment, fitted in for my convenience at 08.30 hrs. The air and bone conduction tests were carried out appropriately. I was less enthusiastic to be advised that my hearing aids are now obsolete and then subject to a gentle sales pitch to encourage me to spend from £3,000 to £5,200 on upgrading to the last model which is 'just out' and may well incorporate features which I neither need nor want when my current hearing aids are doing fine. I had been asked for a copy of the audiometry by a Consultant ENT Surgeon whom I was shortly to see and thereby ran into problems. The copy could not be printed out and handed to me - that was against company procedures! I was assured that an e-mail would be sent immediately, a Thursday morning, and the copy would be forwarded via the compliance officer which would reach me by the week-end or at least Monday. It had not arrived, nor clearly was even in the post by Monday afternoon when I phoned the head office. Having explained the position to a member of the Customer service staff, the request overcame the hurdles and once my e-mailed consent for its transmission (medical information is not normally sent by e-mail) had been received, the requested result was e-mailed to me before I left for my appointment on the Tuesday afternoon.
