From speaking with my staff member, the course is just good enough and I will highlight below the comments:
The course was really quite in depth. Started with an overview of the course then followed on with topics such as;
- differences between leadership and management, a leader is someone who is a confident individual, is competent in their profession, and is able to deliver tasks on a higher level, a manager on the other hand, although important, they are only employed in an occupational level, to ensure the leaders aims are enforced and their workforce are motivated and working to their best abilities.
- certain aspects of how if employed as a leader or manager in a troubled business, what would be the first thing you would do. It explained (FED) Future, Engage, Deliver these were the three steps to take in this situation
- meetings, that the minimum amount of people to be present at a meeting should be 7, maximum 22, spoke on how you would go about choosing the right people for your meetings, how to start and end a meeting, making an agenda well in advance and delivering this agenda to your attendees so they are prepared, what skills and should you posses during the meeting to keep the meeting focused and so on
- time management, explained that most time is wasted on the tasks that are not so important, so to make a time log for the week, and prioritise the time you have to tasks that are important and urgent. It showed how you should allow for a contingency plan, regarding time and money (this goes more in depth in the project management course I have started)
- it also talks on emotional intelligence, how well you can use emotions to your advantage and also with moral within your business, how well you can spot if your team is low on moral and how you would overcome this with team building exercises etc
- in each module, it gave common life scenarios within different businesses which was helpful, so it would ask how you would apply (X) in (Y) situation

Initial thoughts are that the course content is adequate, but the certificate is rubbish. Sent in a plain not card envelope and crinkled and almost home printed paper.
Course prices were not obscene however decent certificates would be expected and to be honest if this is the same for the other courses I won't book again for my staff...
