I had a Hoselink classic retractable hose at my previous house. My new house has a small courtyard and I thought the retractable hose was overkill but ... every hose felt like rubbish. So finally I bit the bullet and bought the compact reel. It feels so much more solid. Definitely much better value for money rather than a series of cheap alternatives that quickly fail.
