I purchased this floor lamp as I was fed up of our dog knocking into the old one and causing the ultra large shade to be dislodged ! The base on this ceramic lamp is narrow as is the shade but the weight of the base is heavy enough to prevent the dog (who is rather like a bull at a gate) from falling over. The light produced is not as bright as a normal standard lamp but suits our purposes. Customer support very helpful. Thanks
