What can I say about I love kickboxing that other people haven't yet? I love kickboxing is not just a work out. It's not just another crazy fad. It's a lifestyle. It's a family. It's therapy to some people (including me). When you walk into I love kickboxing, Federal Way, you're not just greeted by trainers but you're greeted by friends and positive people who are there to be your cheerleaders every step of the way. I've been coming to the gym roughly 6 weeks now and I've already dropped at least 10 pounds. I've always been a tall slender person but since retiring from the dance world and moving on to a new career, that involves a lot of traveling, I found that I put on, easily, 30 pounds. I wasn't happy with myself and every time I look in the mirror I couldn't believe what had happened. I joined a gym and starting conducting my own workouts. Frustrated that I didn't see any results for six months I figured I needed to find a new workout regiment. I've done everything from Pilates to hot yoga to kettle bells to (expensive) personal training and nothing has been more efficient and more effective than kickboxing. From the moment I receive my phone call from Abby I knew I was in good hands. She was a positive, bright, and energetic person over the phone and made the commitment to come in seem effortless. I knew at that moment I was making a choice to change my life and to change my mindset. When I first walked into the studio I was a little nervous, I'm not going to lie. The trainers all seemed really energetic and positive and it slightly overwhelmed me. But that was easily shrugged off within five minutes when I realize that they were genuine people. Your first day you get a one on one tour with one of the trainers and you get a one on one training session during class. They are there to be your cheerleader and your support. They made realistic goals with me and told me to go at my own pace. I couldn't have been more grateful for Abby's encouragement and Ericka's positive attitude on my first day. Since then I have found myself being more positive, more energetic, more upbeat, and excited every day to wake up and take class. I've even found myself taking a very early morning 7:30 AM class on a Sunday. I used to say nothing happened before 10 AM on a Sunday. Well jokes on me because kickboxing is happening prior to 10 AM on Sunday. Even on my hardest days I still find myself pushing through pain, old injuries, and building strength every day with the help of the trainers. What I love most, besides everything I listed above, is that one of the owners Jim is not just a man behind the desk but he's a man on the mat. You'll find him motivating and handing out high fives on the regular. I really love the involvement that everyone has at the studio. Let me finish with this thought, I love kickboxing is not just to work out but it's a lifestyle, it's a family, and it's a way of life. I couldn't be happier that I made this investment in my future.
