The acoustic insert made the sound produced by the HVAC near my window almost imperceptible. When I hear it, it's because of some very low frequencies the compressor produce at full capacity, but even then, that sound is less distracting because all the other frequencies are essentially blocked. So no more on and off fan or metallic sounds to attract my attention.
