Holiday ruined by wreckless transfer driver From the very beginning of this transfer, the driver was driving extremely dangerously. I lost count of the amount of times he drove across the central line in the road, and was speeding throughout the whole journey; he was constantly being flashed by oncoming traffic on the other side of the road, and cut up several drivers too. The Jet2Holidays rep was constantly on his phone and at no time asked the driver to slow down, or drive more carefully. we were driving through a well lit ‘high street’, he was driving much too fast. In front of us, about 25-30 metres ahead of us (we had a clear view as there was no cars in front of us), was a pedestrian crossing the road. My daughter and I both saw him, he was crossing slowly, his arms by his side, looking down. The driver must have seen him but was driving straight towards him at considerable speed. Our driver made no attempt to slow down or to swerve to avoid the pedestrian (there was no oncoming traffic on the other side of the road, so there was plenty of space for him to have done so), and drove straight into the pedestrian, smashing the man’s head into the minibus’ windscreen and his body against the front of the bus. Moments before impact, my daughter and I started screaming as we could see what was going to happen, my other children looked up to see why we were screaming, and then all four of us saw the man’s head smash into our windscreen and felt the thud as the bus hit his body. Your Jet2Holidays representative told us that the driver was new, it was his first day with your company – Jet2Holidays should have provided adequate supervision to ensure he was doing this job properly – i.e. driving with due care and attention.This was absolutely horrific, it is an image that is still with us. The whole episode was made so much worse as it was so completely avoidable; as well as seeing it happen almost in slow motion and right in front of us.Needless to say, this was the worst start to our holiday. We didn’t sleep that first night at all, and badly for the remainder of the holiday and were all quite upset for a few days afterwards, my middle daughter and I were particularly traumatised. We all decided we did not want to do any trips that involved any transfers (with Jet2holidays or any other company), as none of us wanted to get into a minibus again so our plans to see turtles, enjoy mud baths, have a spa day, go to the market and do a jeep safari etc were all ruined – seriously affecting our enjoyment of the holiday. We were marooned at our resort for the remainder of the holiday. Jet2Holidays have continually denied any responsibility for the resulting trauma.
