Bad experience!!
We had a bed bug issue and having tried the chemical treatment without success, decided to do the heat treatment as providers essentially guarantee success. We selected JG Pest Control due to positive reviews on this site, even though they were materially more expensive than other quotes we received.
Our experience was disappointing, summarized with the following:
• Received an offer for rat/mice removal (from salesperson) in response to our initial request for bed bug heat treatment.
• Subsequently received the corrected offer, which was £1000 for one bedroom, but to have the guarantee be effective, you needed to have all rooms treated. The living room couldn’t be heat treated as it was open plan with the kitchen, unfortunately, I mistakenly understood the guarantee still applied as I had agreed to have the additional bedroom treated.
• The agreement was sent digitally but I was unable to read it when opened. I sent an email to the salesperson, after which I received a signed agreement (which I had not signed). I was becoming concerned at this point, but due to the positive reviews and situation we had with the bed bugs, decided to proceed.
• The appointment was made for 8am-9am, the technician arrived around 11am.
• The technician was courteous and professional, and certainly appeared knowledgeable, which provided reassurance.
• The technician sent a visit completion report which showed sign-off by me, even through I wasn’t in the apartment. When I again raised the fact that documents were being falsely signed-off, I received an admission this shouldn’t’ have happened.
• The final payment was automatically taken, despite not signing either the agreement or completion report (albeit the agreement does state this will happen).
• On returning to the apartment, the main bedroom had an elevated temperature, but the second bedroom had normal room temperature (same as the living room). It suggested strongly that the second bedroom didn’t receive the heat treatment, albeit when raised, I was informed it had received the heat treatment (albeit no explanation why one room was far more elevated in temperature than the other). Several months later after requesting proof, they finally admitted the second room had not been treated despite repeatedly claiming it had been. Minimal compensation was offered.
• The following day, bed bugs remained. After sharing pictures with JG Pest Control, I was informed the guarantee wasn’t valid and I would need to wait 4 weeks before they would return to do a chemical spray.
• We continued having bed bugs over the following four weeks, albeit in smaller quantities (positive aspect being majority were killed, even if not all of them).
• After 4 weeks, they agreed to return and respray the apartment. Some bed bugs remained even after this, which point they came again and sprayed a second time. This did appear to finally kill the bed bugs.
My experience was disappointing. I should state that I contacted them on multiple occasions and received (what I considered) minimal customer support or ownership for the issues raised. I certainly wouldn’t use them again or recommend them.
