I Took John Pye Ltd To Court I Took John Pye Ltd To Court And they settled so they did not have to appear at court At JP auctions last wk I saw on line an Arlo 5 camera security system, the photo showed the box as sealed, the box stated 5 camera system. As I was unable to attend the viewing, and knowing how this company operates and most items are broken, or wrongly described, or photographed in a way damage is hidden wherever possible, I called and spoke to a guy in the sales office. I gave him the lot number and he looked it up, he saw the same photo as me. I asked him about the item /box being a 5 camera system, and if I bid on it would I be bidding on a 5 camera system, he said yes. So I bid £240, won the bid, attended JP site, paid and went to sale room. Was handed the item, I opened it in the sale room, surprise surprise only 1 camera in the box. Cutting a long story short, I asked to speak to a manager, explained the telephone convo I’d had with guy in the office and what I had been told. The female manager was the most arrogant dismissive and condescending person I have ever dealt with. She accepted I had spoken to the guy in the office but said he denied saying what he had said to me. She simply dismissed my complaint with a smirk on her face and point blank refused to refund my money. There and then I told her I would take JP Ltd to court, she smiled again and informed me I couldn’t do that as they were a auction company, then smiled and said ‘ good by, have a lovely day. I left with the item and within 2 hours I had submitted a claim against JP Ltd online for refund of my £240 plus costs. As soon as I pressed the proceed button on the claims site I received an email from the court stating my claim had been accepted and JP Ltd would receive an instant notification the claim against them had been filed in court. A few days later on the Monday I received a call from JP Ltd, a manager said they would like to offer me a full re fund. I asked was this sudden change of heart and attitude due to me suing them in court, she replied ‘ yes it is’ So the moral of this story is, if you get ripped off by JP Ltd and you have a Just case and they refuse to put the matter right, take them to the small claims court. This is the only way to stop this company from ripping people off and conducting their business in an appalling manner, miss selling and wrongly describing items. Take them to court, they will settle before it gets to court because they know they are in the wrong. I’m hoping my story will get put about so it gives people the mind set to fight this company and hopefully will force JP Ltd to operate in a honest way
