I recently traveled to Japan and booked all my train tickets through Klook, spending over $2,000 in total. I reserved many seats on Limited Express and Shinkansen trains, carefully choosing seats for my family of three to sit together. I even paid extra for Fuji-view window seats — but Klook gave us all separate aisle seats, and none of us ever got a window seat for the entire trip!
It was impossible to change or cancel after receiving the confirmation — Klook just kept offering “upgrades” or other paid options instead of fixing their mistake. Honestly, it feels like they just bought the cheapest seats available despite what I selected.
To make things worse, many JR staff didn’t even know what Klook was, and using the QR code to collect tickets was a real hassle at the machines.
This was a terrible experience from start to finish. I trusted Klook because it looked like a big, reliable company, but it turned out to be misleading advertising.
Never use Klook for train bookings in Japan. Don’t just take my word for it — try it yourself, and you’ll end up just as disappointed.
