A horrible experience. I ordered an iMac which was showing as available for next day delivery. This was for my daughter’s birthday on 29 October. I booked delivery for 6 October. On 5 October, a few days after purchase, I was contacted to be told the price had gone up and I needed to pay an additional £75. This made the item slightly more expensive then I could get on the high street and I found it a little weird to have someone change the price after order, but they confirmed delivery could be made the next day so I went ahead. I duly received an email to say the item was on its way. Mid morning on the day of delivery, however, I was informed that delivery had been delayed by 10 days. As you can imagine, having waited at home on the basis of their verbal and email confirmations of despatch, I was not particularly pleased. I phoned them and they explained it was a problem with their supplier. Move forward to the next delivery date, on 15th I was getting concerned that I’d not heard from them, I didn’t want to be hanging around again so I phoned to check. I was told not to worry and that a despatch notice would be received that evening, no later than 2100. I didn’t receive anything so I phoned first thing on 16th, and was told the item was with the courier, and to expect a call within 2 hours to confirm delivery. You guessed it, no contact was made so I phoned again. This time it was confirmed again that the item was on route but someone was checking the location with the courier and I’d get a call that afternoon. Imagine my surprise to then get an email telling me delivery had been delayed again until 30 October. Clearly the original despatch note and promises the item was with the courier were… err… porkies. I phoned again and after what I’d describe as a frustrating 15 minutes getting no answers I asked to cancel my order. I was told that would be processed and a refund made within 24 hours. Here we go again, that’s right, no refund received. My last call was at lunchtime today when I was told to expect a cancellation notice this afternoon… no surprise that I’ve not heard a stitch from them. I ordered a replacement from Argos, which with a discount code was cheaper and in my car 24 hours later. I’ve put the transaction into dispute. My advice is don’t be like me, don’t chase a deal with laptops direct, hunt around for a discount with a trustworthy supplier and save yourselves the pain. It’s genuinely not worth the hassle.
