My son has some ankle issues and is supposed to wear either specific athletic shoes or a special set of ankle braces when doing sports. However, during soccer he has to wear cleats which are too narrow to accommodate the braces. He started wearing Lasso knee socks with his soccer cleats & shin guards and has been pleased. The socks provide some support without being bulky or uncomfortable like ankle braces. He also has the crew socks which are good when not wearing shin guards. The socks are well-made and comfortable, but took several weeks to ship.
