The first pair of these boots were an extravagant gift. Thirteen years later, when they finally wore out and I replaced them, I had revised my opinion from extravagant to essential. Of course, they are my barn boots, especially appreciated the deeper the mud and the longer the hours. They have also become my year-round hiking boots! Some of the rough country through which I hike is just game trails through forests and meadows and WEEDS. As hot as it gets where I live, the protection and comfort of jeans tucked into these boots are priceless. No scratches. No seeds and burrs to pick out of my socks. It must be the leather lining that enables them to stay cool and comfortable for miles. The thick rubber soles are cushioned and supportive and the tread is dependable. I love these boots.
