Purchased a dishwasher and refrigerator 5 years ago with extended warranty. Had a service call on the dishwasher, great service with that. Once the extended warranty was ready to expire on the fridge, I called to ask about the pay back since we didn't have a claim. I was told that yes, my purchase price of the warranty was on file to use on a future purchase. I stopped in to Leon's in Saint John this morning. I just thought I should check at the customer service desk. Again, the lady said that I do have a credit from the pay back. For whatever reason, I asked if I had to spend a minimum amount to get the credit applied to a purchase. Well, yes, I had to spend a minimum of $400.00 and this has an expiry date. A short window. When I purchased the extended warranty, I was told if I didn't use it, I would get my money back. It was never explained that I have to spend money to get my refund. I guess the adage of buyer beware applies to this situation. The policy should have been explained in full at the time of purchase. I miss Sears, they didn't hold my pay back hostage, I was given a credit to spend as I wished.
Leon's will not have my business in the future. I'm very unhappy about this.
