We have always bought cheap bedding, not thinking it was particularly important or necessary to have better quality sheets. However, the bedding me had would 'pill' forming little scratchy bobbles which made sleeping more uncomfortable. So we looked for how we could prevent this. Turns out 100% cotton and high thread count is the way! The feel of the sheets are amazing! So silky smooth. We will have to see if they last the test of time but so far they feel much better!
