Recommended by my son , I have been with British Gas for over 50 years and decided to change due to price. All went very well without any hickups until after I had changed. I spoke to British Gas about final bill and assured all was fine and final bill would be sent. Then received an Email from British Gas that I could not open . Then had a debt recovery letter saying they were charged with recovering the outstanding amount. Note , always been in credit for both gas and electricity with British Gas. Phoned them and got a very rude man from accounts who said it was my problem for not paying my bills. Note direct debit every month When asked about the email problem I was told I am blocked as I am not a customer any more. Refused to send another email so asked for a bill to be posted to me. This was agreed. No letter and further emails received that I am unable to open. Phoned again and asked to pay the amount despite not knowing the state of the account and this was accepted. Now inundated with phone calls and threatening letters from debt collector. Phoned my new supplier who was very helpful and pleasant, found telephone numbers for Offgen to call and make a complaint Glad I changed now , 50 plus years of being loyal to British Gas now means nothing.
