Overall value of the items you get is more than the price you pay for the crate. I like that you can skip a month if you are not totally in love with the franchises that are featured. I've gotten a couple of items that I just felt were really cheap or cheaply made, and that's reflected in my rating. Also, crates will get delayed for one reason or another and many times I will not get a tracking email to know when its coming. However, I've gotten some really cool items as well and I like getting a t-shirt every month. Customer service is usually pretty good if you have questions or problems, but they do experience high volumes of requests at times so it can take a couple of days for them to respond. If you're on the fence, I'd say give it a try by paying for one month. If you like it, you can always upgrade to the 3 month or annual plan, and if you don't, you can cancel.
