Title: Deeply Disappointed – No Compassion Shown After Bereavement
I had to cancel my holiday with Love Holidays the day before departure due to a devastating family bereavement. My mother-in-law sadly passed away on the very day we were due to travel. Despite providing this information, Love Holidays showed no flexibility or compassion — they focused strictly on their cancellation policy and denied any refund or credit.
No one can predict the death of a loved one or the rapid decline in health leading to such a loss. Expecting people to cancel a trip “far enough in advance” in a situation like this is unrealistic and inhumane. In times of grief, the last thing anyone should have to face is financial loss due to inflexible rules.
I’m not disputing that terms and conditions exist — but I am shocked by the lack of empathy shown. It’s appalling that a company in the travel industry, which deals with people and families every day, can’t show basic understanding in exceptional and tragic circumstances.
I would not book with Love Holidays again, and I urge others to think carefully before doing so — especially if you expect human decency and flexibility during life’s unexpected tragedies.
