As a dental hygiene student, I was really hoping Lumadent would be a reliable investment — unfortunately, it’s been nothing but stress and disappointment. I understand adjustments can be necessary, but they didn’t make the process easy. I wasn’t told I would need to make my own adjustments until after I purchased the loupes. If I would have known this prior to purchase, it would have swayed my decision to order from them. After receiving my loupes in the mail, I spent hours adjusting them in order to see clearly. The initial measurements taken by the rep were incorrect by 7 inches which compromised my ergonomics. I spent over an hour troubleshooting over video chat, even though this was something I was unable to fix myself. They told me I would receive a shipping label via email and I never did. I had to reach out to initiate the process and follow up multiple times to receive updates. I ended up sending them in for a month-long repair — just to get them functional.
Even then, they came back damaged and they had completely ignored some of my other my requests via email. Now, just a few months later, both oculars are loose in the lenses — one is nearly falling out — and I’m completely unable to use my loupes because all I see is double vision. I’ve had them for less than a year, I use them twice a week at most, and I’ve taken great care of them. They should not be falling apart already.
Throughout this whole process, customer service was not helpful at all and only focused on repair, but I made it clear (more than once) that I would feel more comfortable returning them for a refund in which they refuse. I appreciate their efforts to repair the loupes, but this is a crucial tool I rely on for school and my future career. The quality has been extremely disappointing, and if I’m already experiencing issues now, I can’t trust they’ll hold up with the increased, regular use ahead. I’ve been unhappy with both the product and the support I received, and as a student, I can’t afford to keep wasting time and money on equipment I can’t rely on. I understand companies have return policies, but Lumadent has not been willing to work with me at all. I regret choosing them and would not recommend them to anyone. I wish I would have chosen a different company from the beginning, but now - not even a year later - I have to pay an additional $2000 just for a functional pair of loupes.
