I usually give specific reviews on purchases from M&S on their website but wanted to give a general review . I am in my early 60’s and have been an M&S customer all my life (my mum bought all my clothes at M&S when I was a child) 10 years ago I would say 99% of everything I wore came from M&S , clothes , shoes , underwear etc. Now I would say it has slowly dropped to approx 30% , WHY ?
Firstly quality .. .. thin , see through t shirts that only last a couple of months , knitwear that “bobbles” after one wash , poor quality underwear , dresses that shrink , sweatshirts that look like rags after one wear …..etc . Recycling is laudable but M&S seem to have taken it to extremes at the expense of quality, I REALLY DON’T WANT ANY MORE RECYCLED POLYESTER!
Older women would rather pay a little extra for good quality , you are never going to hook the teenage shopper so stop trying to compete with Primark
Secondly style ….we mature women are now in touch with fashion , so we want trendy clothes adapted for our body shape , you do this well with high waisted jeans but everything else 🤷♀️?
Thirdly colours …..wishy washy , anything in baby blue or baby pink sells out instantly as do basic browns , oranges etc . So why all the dull washed out colours ?
Fourthly presentation… stores look dated , uninteresting and drab
Fifthly …..what happened to Per Una ?! I have items from when it was first launched , still fresh and wearable . When “George” was in charge it was innovating , pretty and feminine
If anyone at M&S is reading this I speak for many of your core customers so please take note …we don’t want to lose you from the high street but loyalty can only be stretched so far !
