Just received a My Little Shop collectible having spent over £20 in store to qualify. It’s a dummy pack of M&S salted popcorn which is 5cm x 4cm. The collector’s card that comes with it tells me M&S have reduced the packaging on their popcorn by decreasing the amount of air in the bags. Reduce the cost of packaging, but keep the product cost the same. Simple economics. M&S however see this as a ‘save the planet’ measure.
The nutrition information on the back of the pack, which could actually be of educational value to their target audience (children) is microscopic and totally illegible.
There are 25 to collect so you’d have to spend over £500 to get them all, assuming no duplicates. M&S suggest there will be a swap facility, but that seems more trouble than it’s worth. The collector box will cost you £3, and you can buy mini trolleys, baskets and an apron which the cashier said were £10 each.
I certainly won’t be adding to the collection.
