I purchased a solo and perfect milk, plus glasses, and cleaning agent. Service wise the website was easy to use, communication clear and efficiently done by email, and delivery was reasonably quick. The company also ran an extra incentive for blue light / health services which offered a discounted price which was appreciated and shows good corporate governance by Melitta UK. The coffee machine is great. Out of the box setup was easy. Making Espresso a doddle. I bought this machine because I wanted the ease of bean to cup espresso or a longer black coffee when wanted, but with the option to occasionally froth milk directly from the machine. This works, however after some getting used to the machine this is what I do - for espresso it’s simple, just use the machine via pressing 1 button only (great), for an americano (longer black coffee) I now make espresso and top it up with boiling water from the kettle - I do this because although the machine will produce a longer black coffee the temperature of the water is too low - fine for extracting the espresso but not hot enough to produce a hot long drink. It would also use all the water tank water supply pretty quickly making long coffees entirely via the machine. Similar story with the milk steamer/frother. It work’s easily once you’re used of how it operates however I heat the milk in the microwave first. If you follow the machine instructions and use cold milk you’ll end up with a tepid drink not really up to proper drinking temperature. If you treat the steam valve like you would an ordinary one - ie give it a quick blast to get the steam flowing before placing the tube into the milk then the milk system works quite well. Brilliant to clean - The milk Is separate from the machine itself (I.e no milk enters the chambers of the machine) and the machine cleans out the milk tube pretty effectively after use. Only other issue I’ve noticed is that you have to press the beans down into the hopper occasionally if the grinder won’t pick them up to grind. No big deal but slightly annoying. Overall I’m happy with it. Switch on, 1 button press for a good espresso- does all the work for you. I’d recommend, if you're okay with using it flexibly as above and not expecting 1 button fully automatic service.
