My experience with Moneybarn has been nothing short of a nightmare, leading to significant financial harm and distress.
In July 2021, I updated my address with Moneybarn. However, due to their own admitted "administrational error," they created a fabricated, non-existent hybrid address on my account. Despite this admission in their final response (22/07/2025), they then used this incorrect address to serve an unlawful Default Notice on 21 December 2021 (a clear breach of the Consumer Credit Act).
This illegally served default then led to:
An unlawful repossession of my vehicle without proper notice.
My credit file being severely and wrongly damaged with an inaccurate default.
The consequences have been devastating. This unlawful default has caused me over £9,859 in documented financial losses, including higher interest rates on new car finance and my mortgage, and significant costs related to alternative transport. Moneybarn has refused to fully rectify this despite admitting their error.
I have now formally escalated my complaint to both the Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS) and the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) due to their data inaccuracy and illegal actions.
Be warned: Moneybarn's administrative failures and subsequent refusal to properly fix their own errors can ruin your financial standing. Their data handling is appalling.
