If I could leave 0 stars I would. Had the absolute worst experience at Mr Price Home Retail Crossing! I bought 3 picture frames a week ago, received my prints today and when I opened the packing to put the prints into the frames, one corner on each frame was broken. I had taken a photograph of my original slip as I always do, in order to make sure I don’t lose them, should I have to return an item. The lady at the door was really helpful and assisted me to carry the frames in, however from there I dealt with a lady named Mary who told me that unless I had the original proof of purchase, they were not willing to refund me and I had to accept store credit. I again showed her the photo of the original slip and explained that this was sufficient as proof of purchase as you can see the whole slip. She continued to refuse to assist me and when I told her “this is nonsense” she raised her voice and repeatedly shouted that if I was going to continue “swearing” at her she was going to refuse to help me. No matter what I said from that point she just kept shouting that I was swearing. When I told her I was too tired to fight with her and asked if I could I speak to her manager she told me she was in charge of the store. I phoned head office only to find out that she was not in charge of the store and that it was a lady named Hanlie who was there and just as unhelpful. Head office spoke to them but they just dug their heels in and said they would not give me a refund. When I called another Mr. Price they said they would be happy to refund me as long as I had the photo of my slip and the original packaging which I did. They had taken my items to the back so I requested they return them. They then returned them with half of the packaging missing. When I asked Mary to please give me the packaging back she tells me “I was on lunch when you arrived so I don’t know what you are talking about”. Hanlie eventually got another staff member to bubble wrap it for me. I can’t believe that in the economic climate people can have such a disregard for their jobs! People are tired, dealing with a pandemic, a little bit of common curtesy would go a long way! But apparently Mr. Price Retail Crossing has trained their staff to do exactly the opposite of this! Just an update on my post yesterday: The area manager replied to the call centre who I had to call back myself and stated that they would not give me a cash refund. I have taken pictures of all my slips due to the hand sanitizer rendering them illegible. The call centre agent would not keep quiet for long enough for me to finish a sentence. I can see the back of my slip in the photograph and it reads as follows: "If you want to return your purchase, just bring it back in its original packaging with your sales slip..." No mention of an original slip. According to the consumer protection act as long as I can produce proof of purchase (which I can) it is illegal for you to force me to take in store credit. "Wherever the CPA entitles a consumer to a refund, it must be interpreted to mean that the consumer has the election on how to receive the refund. This means that while refunds as in-store vouchers or credits are not illegal per se, if the consumer demands a cash refund the supplier must give it to them." I am tired of talking to call centre agents who have been trained to specifically not help you, please can the area manager call me directly. I have left my number at the call centre and in direct messages.
