Used the "Long Stay" on this occasion instead of the "Short stay" which I now usually use. The long stay appears to have been extended and I probably drove past lots of spaces before parking near the very large and half empty staff car park. On arrival just walked back to the terminal (we had already checked bags in) and this only took a few minutes. On return used the shuttle bus, (5 minute wait). Driver was helpful and pleasant and dropped off about 50 metres from the car. Exit was seamless, the Number Plate Recognition working fine. On reflection I think it is worth paying the extra for the "short stay" car park, although this does get very full in the summer months.
