I started an application for my National Insurance number on the 27th January and I received an email almost straight away with a link to upload my documents, the link was to apply for an EU settlement scheme which is not what I want and I made that clear from the start. I have called and I keep getting told that I have to go apply for the EU settlement scheme in order to get my NI but when I apply it states that British citizens don't need to apply for the EU settlement scheme. I then called back i was still told that it's the only way. I then requested a cancellation of my application and a full refund as its not my fault. I was then sent a cancellation form and filled it out twice and since then I haven't heard back. Now when I call, I just get told that I need to email which they never email back.
