I'm a professional drummer and drum teacher who has flirted with learning jazz piano for years, but have never jumped in with both feet because it seemed like such a huge, intimidating subject. By the end of my first Jazz Piano Jump-Start lesson, I could tell that I had the perfect tools (chromatic warmup, interval etude) to open the door and work on what I can right now and not worry about the rest, and I felt REALLY EXCITED rather than intimidated! I even did some free play using the intervals and licks from the interval etude, and I started to feel (a little bit) like a jazz pianist! As a teacher, it's so cool for me to feel this little taste of the real thing and a burst of confidence about a big, new subject, and it's reminding me to foster that feeling in my drum students. Thank you, Adam!!! Love the easy 5-note ii-V-I voicings I have learned from you, too. So fun and a perfect sound. Thanks so much.
