I had laser eye surgery to correct my short-sightedness on 11 November 2011 at the age of 33. It cost me about ?1700, as cost is dependent on how poor your eyesight is, and my right eye was a pretty low -8. The staff at the Cabot Centre in Bristol were very professional, and I felt in very safe hands. I was quite nervous while waiting, as it was a weekday and sadly no-one was able to accompany me, but the procedure was very quick and painless. It literally only took 10 minutes from the moment I lay down to the moment I got up. It was a very odd thing to go through, and I was worried about moving my eyes, but I concentrated on looking straight above me and it was fine :) The surgeon was very nice and reassuring throughout. I could already see pretty well when I got up off the operating table, and I was able to take the bus home afterwards. As the surgery happened just after 11am, I spent the rest of the day in bed. It was pretty uncomfortable, and I had to refrain from scratching my eyes, which felt like they had sand in them, but there was no pain. The next-day check revealed that I already had 20/20 vision despite still being fairly blurry! Wearing sunglasses out for the next week was a bit odd, as was sleeping with goggles on, but it was soon over. I haven't had any problems since, and I'm so glad I did it. I would recommend it to anyone who wants to get rid of their glasses (I sponsored a friend and she loved it too). It's not as expensive as you think, and it's so worth it! And like many others, I do wish I'd done it sooner! :)
