I own a holiday home in France. I let it through Owners Direct for five years with no problems.Then Expedia bought Owners Direct and put barriers up to stop owners and their potential customers apart. They insist on payment through OD, keep it for months until the guest checks in, won't let owners make direct contact with owners, and allow last minute cancellation without penalty. They also won't promote your property unless you have online booking activated. Most owners are leaving, having seen their bookings drop dramatically.
