Change in design means this is no longer the hardcore vac I am familiar with. Having worked with older models enough to want my own, I was crushed when the hose wouldn't stay on for more than 5 seconds because the 'new' clips wouldn't secure the hose to the dome. Sure, gaffer tape would have solved the problem, but we're talking about a brand-new vac here. Was advised I cannot have an older style hose. It took a weeks for a replacement to arrive. Same design, but the clip inserts stay put (so far). Still prefer to have the hose affixed without mucking around with those clips. The latches that attach the dome to the unit are also flimsier. The u-type bracket on the clips often bend and expand, falling off when resecuring the dome to the motor. Awful nuisance. I am hoping I don't lose one. Keeping the faith that they will at least last until the motor dies. Overall, stoked to have my own vac for work. Still a great powerhouse unit when used with my old sidewinder pipe and foot. But somewhat leery at paying $1200 for a product with sketchy design updates. If you're used to the sturdy, older machine (same model), be prepared for disappointment if you want to splash out on one of these. Go to Godfrey's for comparable quality at a fraction of the price. Leave this one for companies to bulk buy and write off on tax.
