On 17th September, I used ParcelCompare comparison website and booked a UPS parcel for pickup to be sent to Southam CV47. The parcel details I entered are as follows: 1 parcel with the measurement 99cm x 61 cm x 34cm and a weight 15 kg, which equates to 41.07 kg (V). I selected service type as standard. The total bill for the Parcel is £22.57, which was paid promptly. On the 28th September I have received a Large Parcel Surcharge for £61.84. The charge is incorrect as accurate parcel dimensions, and weight were entered during price comparison. Furthermore, the UPS driver verified the weight at pickup on the 18th September. Notification to appeal charge ParcelCompare's website states that you will always send an invoice to notify you of the charge, and if the cost is for a weight adjustment, we will give you 7 days to appeal the bill before we take payment. ...We will always send you an invoice to notify you of the charge, and if the charge is for a weight adjustment, we will give you 7 days to appeal the charge before we take payment... I have not received the stipulated 7 day notice to appeal the charges. Below, I have listed the notification and amount debited from my account. Email received - 28 Sep 23 at 19:37 £61.84 debit from the account – 28 Sep 23 at 19:37 Email to confirm payment of £61.84– 28 Sep 23 at 19:37 Incorrect service rating Your website is misleading and states that you have received 4.3 stars from 19,663 Feefo reviews. Feefo’s website shows that you have received 3.9 from just 2,277 reviews. As per Feefo, you have 33% (502) 1 star ratings, which of the 1 star ratings is due to unfairly charging customers additional charges for oversized packages without warning. I would ask that this error is immediately corrected as it is misleading for new customers like myself that you are a reliable and trustworthy business. Trustpilot has also given you a 3.8 star rating with over 30% 1 star rating. Similar to feefo, the majority of the 1 star rating is related to no warning of additional charges debited from customers accounts. Citizen Advice / Trading standards Per the citizen advice website, you must notify customers of any additional charge and allow them time to challenge/dispute before money is debited from their account. As per the timing of transactions shown above, this was not followed.
