“Booked a parcel to go to Canada through ParcelCompare - the actual process was fairly smooth and the cheapest option was a next day DPD service.
I heard the DPD man reversing down my street, so got up from the sofa to give him the parcel. Waited for a minute in the kitchen with the parcel for him to knock but didn't hear anything so opened the front door, only to see him driving away in his van. He categorically never knocked. Rang DPD immediately to tell them what happened and the first call handler said someone would come back to collect it. No one came for hours. Rang them back and the second call handler explained I needed to sort it out with ParcelCompare as the service was booked through them.
The above wasn't actually ParcelCompare's fault but it was their subsequent handling of the situation.
Couldn't find a phone number for them, so emailed the support email address - which was still hard to find. I saw on ParcelCompare's website it said if you 'miss a delivery' that you have to pay for a re-collection. So I stated in my email that I wouldn't pay as I hadn't missed it, I heard him reversing, he just never knocked and Peter sent me a generic email back to say "Sorry your delivery wasn't as expected, you can re-book a delivery here" - a paid for service. So clearly hadn't read my email at all.
Went back and explained the situation again and to stress I wasn't paying for something that wasn't my fault. If I could hear him reversing down the street from my living room, common sense would prevail that I would have heard him knock on the door that is connected to my house?!
We went back and forward across a few emails and Peter just kept doubling down on me paying for the re-collection service. When he finally sent DPD's "proof" they had been there to collect the parcel... IT WASN'T EVEN THE CORRECT DOOR NUMBER!! Common sense?! You can see my door number on the collection and it isn't that??
So then he softened, apologised and asked how I wanted to proceed - I'd already dropped the parcel off to the DPD collection point, as it had been days in between responses. If you're dealing with a customer, first and foremost, you don't take days to reply? Or have a number they can call you to sort it out quickly, this is my business you're playing with. Then secondly, maybe go in with the approach that the customer might genuinely be telling the truth, or at least investigate before just doubling down on them being wrong & paying.
To top it all off, cut to... DPD then somehow lost the package.
Also, in the interim of all of this, my customer has been waiting for their parcel for days and days whilst this is all going on so, out of my own pocket, I've sent them another one whilst ParcelCompare & DPD "investigate".
I've also repeatedly asked how to put in a formal complaint for the way this was all handled and Peter keeps swerving the message and simply not responding to that part but everything else. Just an absolute disaster from start to finish & absolutely shocking customer service.
I can see they're only replying to the positive reviews on here too, which is indicative of their level of customer service.
Swerve! Go through another parcel comparison site like ParcelHero or Parcel2Go - plain sailing with both of them & better customer service.”
“Absolute garbage, avoid at all costs.
Paid for item to be delivered - declared it was paint on the form and paid extra for their insurance. The paint was in a UN approved metal container rated for being dropped up to 2M, however, to use their own words, they ‘damaged and discarded’ the package.
No details of how it got damaged and level of damage have been provided.
Unbelievably they then (after the item was destroyed), made an additional charge (larger than the original cost) to my card without my knowledge or permission for ‘extra handling’ and said the insurance does not cover the item as paint is on their list of prohibited items - it is not…”
“Don’t use I paid over £30 for service and then after the deliver they charged me another £30 because they said it was delivered to an extended area. They had the full postal address when I accepted the service and paid. Avoid avoid avoid. The price they quote isn’t real”
“Very poor episode - 8 weeks and counting to deliver UK to Germany
My parcel arrived arrived in Frankfurt on 22nd October, and is still not delivered to it's final destination, Worms (10th December). Paid for service was UPS 3 to 6 days.
Parcel Compare are unable to communicate with UPS in order to progress the matter of any unpaid customs duty (which is not due as my item is a Return, and which was clearly stated on the ParcelCompare portal form). UPS cannot deal with me directly as I am not their customer. According to UPS further instructions can only come from ParcelCompare, so I am now completely in their (incapable) hands!”
“Terrible, terrible company, with terrible communication. We ordered a parcel for Express Delivery, in the original packaging. We had £50 worth of insurance provided for free and confirmation that, if the parcel were delivered outside of the agreed time, we would be liable for a refund for the delivery. The parcel arrived extremely late and the package was damaged. Naturally, we claimed the insurance and delivery fee.
Unfortunately, Parcel Compare lied about this. When we asked for a refund, given that it was their mistake, they referred us to their website and claimed (falsely) that they were not liable due to the vague wording. They also completely ignored our request for the delivery fee refund. We provided them with evidence, yet they denied the request erroneously. Their "Money Back Guarantee" is a scam.
Do not use this company if you want your package delivered safely and on time!”
“shocking service. 5 days after paying for a parcel to be shipped I still do not have a shipping label. They are diabolical and its impossible to speak to someone its all this webhelp nonsense which says it all. If I could given then no stars I would !”
“This company is beyond useless, no collection of parcel, no communication, no live chat, website doesn't work, 4 hour response time, wish I could give it 0 stars
Day 2 parcel not collected”
“I put an excellent review on here which I want to take back. After three weeks I received an email from them saying I owe them money as the parcel, was bigger than I said and also was heavier. It was the size and weight i said so this is a scam company.thank, god i had the sense after reading the reviews I got the bank to block this company of taking any more money, from my account. So good luck parcelcompare in trying to scam me out of more money.”
“I paid for insurance for £100 and took my parcel containing an airfryer to a drop off shop where it was picked up and transported by FedEx. It was carefully packed, including polystyrene in hard cardboard to keep the item protected in the box. When the item arrived, the box was dented on one side, and both airfryer drawer handles were smashed. The parcel had clearly been dropped hard onto a hard surface. I sent photos of the parcel and the damage but ParcelCompare said they would not accept a claim as I had no photos of the internal packaging. Avoid this company.”
“Sent a parcel. Thoroughly wrapped and fully informed as to what was being sent. Item arrived in bits and company refused to accept responsibility or supply contact details.
AVOID AVOID AVOID”
“AVOID THIS SCAM COMPANY!!! I sent a parcel for around £40, carefully measured and weighed it to comply with guides (well under) and 2 weeks later they took £170 out of my bank account and sent me an email saying i had sent an over sized/weight parceland this was the extra cost!?! not sure how this is even legal? but anyway terrible customer service, no help on chat, no telephone help. very unhappy”
“AVOID THIS COMPANY AND SISTER COMPANY PARCELHERO AT ALL COSTS. THEY MAY OFFER THE CHEAPEST PRICE , BUT IF ANY DAMAGE OR LOSS OCCURS YOU WILL NOT RECIEVE ANY COMPENSATION AS THEY WILL GIVE YOU EVERY EXCUSE IN THE BOOK TO AVOID THIS, THEY HAVE EVERY ANGLE COVERED. YOU WILL RECIEVE NO COMENSATION, EVEN WITH INSURANCE, AND WILL BE OFFERED A SMALL CREDIT AS A TOKEN, LIKE YOUR EVER GOING TO USE THEM AGAIN.
HEED THIS WARNING AND PAY A LITTLE EXTRA TO BOOK DIRECT WITH THE COURIER COMPANY. PARCELCOMPARE AND PARCELHERO ARE A TOTAL FRAUDULENT RACKET.”
“I have been completely scammed by this company
They have taken two lots of payment and failed to take my parcel claiming the labels have not generated
They do not have a phone number to talk to anyone and the love chat is a scripted load of nonsense
AVOID this company they will rip you off completely”
“absolutely appalling service. Booked a parcel, made an error with one of the sides measurements for the box. They got back to me saying Fedex charged extra and gave me the measurements of the parcel which FEDEX provided them which were incorrect : two sides had wrong measurements on their end. I had photographic evidence for those two sides to prove that Fedex made a mistake. Lewis Enfiled from Parcelcompare flat out refused to submit an appeal to Fedex to question an extra charge of £40 stating they would need the evidence for all three sides. Complete bonkers! I kept explaining that I am questioning two sides only as didn't manage to take full photo of thrid side due to parcel being large and I was on my own trying to take a photo and holding tape measure in two paces! Nope, he just refuses to submit appeal
Plus they went ahead and took money from my card for extra weight adjustment without my prior knowledge. Now go and try to get money back from them
No contact number, nothing
When I asked him about his supervisor he proceeded to ignore my request.
I think it is a one-man company, to be honest.
I would avoid it.
First and last time booking with them.
Transglobal is the place to go to instead of parcelcompare.”
“I would have given this company a zero if I could have. We arranged for a parcel to be returned to the manufacturer. We sent it in the same packaging it was delivered to us in from the manufacturer. UPS was the courier contracted. The goods didn't arrive. We chased and chased, and eventually, they told us the package had been damaged and disposed of. No photographic evidence, nothing. We paid additional insurance as well. Not reimbursement, not compensation, nothing, just them telling us the goods were not packaged according to THEIR specification. Complete rip off. No phone contact, no mechanism to escalate, just a brick wall from their customer service.”
“3 months AFTER the parcel was delivered , they charged me a extra £12.75 with pretty much no explanation.
Anyone with any sense would avoid this lot, as I will do from now on”
