I took my cat to the pdsa as I was desperate i had no money, he was struggling to breathe, the morning I took him his breathing issue had mostly resolved, but as I explained it came and went, especially after eating he was bad. My cat was given a thirty second examination, I was told he had feline asthma and was given prednisolone, I struggled giving him this medication for the next six weeks, his breathing issues were minor in this time so I was reasonably happy and thought to myself that as soon as I had some money I'd take him to see another vet, and get some more advice as his condition physically had deteriorated. When I got to the new vet, he immediately looked in his mouth and discovered a couple of huge tumours, and suggested we euthanized him as he had no hope of any quality of life and was suffering. I accept that even with an earlier diagnosis his fate would have been no different, however I wish he had had a thorough examination at the pdsa, and I might have spent his last time differently, I was convinced that it was just asthma and once I got enough money I could have got him an inhaler. I'm still shocked and devastated at the loss of my best friend simba, I love you boy, I'm so sorry I let you down.
