My daughter took her cat to a emergency vet during night as someone had maliciously chopped his tail off it was hanging by a thread thy bandage it n gave painkillers costing £400 told her to go to pdsa next day as she is on universal credit thy took cat in but then rang to say the vet has refused to take the tail off and to pick him up that’s all the reason thy gave her it seems unless it’s a minor issue thy won’t help how can thy be so cruel thy not worth donating to save ya money n go to a vet cos these people don’t care about animals she now has taken it to a vet and has to pay monthly for the treatment and to be honest it is worth it the vet is lovely and really cares so my advice avoid the pdsa at Sunderland

Tried for over a week for an appointment for my sweet boy, who passed away!!, I was told I had to send pictures, then videos, this was moments before he passed away. I believe if he was seen on time he would still be here. This is an awful place to go to or send anything for charity. There's no care here. Nothing!! These animals mean nothing to you but to me he was family he was my best friend. You guys really need to do better. I'll be taking this further.

After three visits and x rays being taken I had to have my beautiful black lab Luca put to sleep. Everyone I saw was so kind. The young vet who put him to sleep at PDSA Thamesmead was lovely and gentle with him. I would like to thank you all for making the worst rime in my life more bearable

Absolutely brilliant our pooch had a bladder stone stuck a few days ago. We brought him in and as could have been fatal without being removed they seen to him. I won’t give all the ins and outs but the treatment and surgery he received was great. In essence if had to take him privately to a vet we would have been paying way over £1000 for surgery. I can’t thank the pdsa enough I did not really have it but still made a small donation as without there service and helping our pet we would have been stuck not really knowing what to do. I see people complain about them all the time but from my experience with them they don’t just want to grab money in donations they genuinely want to do the best by your pet. I really don’t know what we would of done without them and people that do get help from them should appreciate what they do for your pets without them like I say we would be stuck

I love reading the negative reviews Have anybody realised it’s a charity and it’s not your right to use them? You are all quick to complain they aren’t taking on new patients but perhaps if many didn’t run them into the ground in the diary place they would probably be able to offer a full service and staff would want to be there instead of being abused by idiots (which I have witnessed) How about you either be thankful they are helping your pet in the first place and did deep. Nothing is FREE Personally I have never had an issue, and I am grateful I can use their reduced cost service for my Rabbit. Who I would have had to have put to sleep without their help! Shocking how ungrateful you all are!!

Disabled friends dog was in pain. PDSA told him nothing they can do as not taking patients. He ended up getting money from a money lender to help his dog. DONT DONATE TO THIS CHARITY. ONLY WANT YOUR MONEY

My PDSA in Kirkdale Liverpool, I was a little nervous about having to use the PDSA services after always having a private Vet as I had always worked, I am now retired through I'll health and on benefits. They responded quickly and saw my puppy Rolly that morning, the waiting time was no longer than my previous vet. Emma the Vet was amazing and dealt with Rolly in a lovely caring manner. They are an amazing team and truly care about animals. Thank You

Took my cat to see them with problems pooing and had vomited a few times. I paid a consult fee to see what I thought was a vet (was a nurse and she was new). From the minute I took him in she seemed more concerned that he may bite her then covering all bases. She even had the previous animals record up on the screen and couldn’t work out why his weight was way off. I wasn’t offered any scans or X-rays for him. When she finally got the right screen up she says she’ll give him omeprazole. I ask if she can feel a blockage or anything and she assured me she can’t. After that she starts to walk around the side of me towards the door and I’m still trying to talk about what could be wrong. She then tells me she needs to hurry me along as she’s very busy. I’m now outside in the waiting area still trying to ask questions for reassurance. She then says goodbye and I have to remind her about the omeprazole she prescribed to my cat. A few days have passed and my cat hasn’t had a bowel movement at all so I take him in again. This time the consult is free because I complained about the way me and my cat was treated. We actually get to see a vet who takes his temp and I tell him he hasn’t had a bowel movement in about 5 days. He then gives a diagnosis of colitis but still haven’t been offered any scans. We take him home thinking that he will start going again as he’s in the middle of a flare up. A couple of days has passed and he again vomits but this time it smells strongly of poo. I google the symptoms and it appears it could be a blockage so I make another emergency appointment to see the vet. He’s sent to see the nurse first who gets to decide if he sees a vet. I tell her what’s been happening and that I think it’s a blockage due to vomiting what’s smells like poo. She tells us to wait to see a vet. About an hr passes and we finally get to see the vet and we tell her he hasn’t been for a poo for a week. I don’t know if she was actually listening to me but after a conversation about his other symptoms she forgets that it’s been a week and says it’s only been a few days since he last went and I have to correct her and reiterate that he hasn’t been and what he did do last week wasn’t a lot. I want to stress he had no other symptoms of a blockage like drooling, weight loss, confusion etc. She again didn’t offer any scans but did check his abdomen and could feel it was bloated and slightly uncomfortable for him. She then says we have to think about his quality of life as it appears to be a blockage but then proceeds to talk me out of an ultrasound saying the result would be the same. She doesn’t offer a laxative or any medication that is made to dissolve blockages that could be caused by hair balls she goes straight to putting him to sleep. We are then moved to a private room and given some time with him. My boy looked fine and normal yet this lot seemed to care more about the cost to the business. It’s cheaper to kill than it is to treat them even though they didn’t ask for money from housing benefit claimants. I googled the bit about hair balls after and it made me mad as the fact that he wasn’t even offered treatment. I would’ve paid for surgery but this wasn’t offered either. Vets are supposed to care for your animals but this lot care about the bottom line and profit margins. The less they have to actually treat the better their bonuses are. There’s a reason they have got such low reviews.

my old dog went in for dental work at the pdsa about 5 weeks later or so he was sleeping on his back i noticed the roof of his mouth covered in red lumps and bumps i i rang them to mention this and they said that will be the tumours we noticed. i asked why they had written in his notes but failed to inform me . their response was he wasnt in there for that ??? i questioned it would be painful and could be cancer and they were so uncaring he died pretty quickly after that the tumours took hold he must of suffered in those 5 weeks they said they would give him pain meds gabapentin he wasnt himself so i took him to another vets to get second opinion and they said the meds he was on wasnt enough it was the lowest dose their attitudes and lack of care is very cold the

Such a bad experience with PDSA Aston. She didn’t tell her name, so I’ll just name her Karen. Karen was extremely rude and unprofessional. I’ve came here with my unwell pet and needed an urgent check up for her, but Karen wouln’t let the vet see her, she only cared about us being registered. Absolutely no empathy or decent human demeanour. Despite seeing my unwell pet, she was being unnecessarily rude saying she can’t do anything about it?! Surely if you cared so much about animals, you would assist in them being checked asap instead of arguing about being registered while seeing the severely unwell pet. Good for nothing and arrogant. Very unhelpful receptionist. Many others have said the same, so it’s a common thing with the PDSA. Honestly disgusted!

The PDSA, does excellent work and they’re not a private vet, so they don’t have the same facilities as a private vets there are a charity. My overall experience of PDSA is a bit of a mixed bag, they’ve been excellent in some ways and not so good in others. My dog lady Skyler, went to the PDSA recently with an issue with her back leg,the vet was rude dismissive and abrupt and wrongly diagnosed IVDD, which is a disease of the spine which is degenerative. The lady in question was a foreign lady, so perhaps there was a language barrier between us, but she said you paid £5,000 for private vet and scans, or you get ready to say bye-bye to your dog, there was no explanation of what this disease was, how it progresses or what options there might be available for treatment either. None of that just a death, sentence and some painkillers given. A few days later, I took my French bulldog to a private vet where, I was informed that it was not ivdd just a bad hip that was slightly sliding out of place, but not IVDD, so not only did they get the diagnosis completely wrong at the pdsa, but service I received on that particular day was incredibly bad which is disappointing because every other time it has been excellent, which was a great shame. However, I have put in a complaint about this particular veterinarian because the diagnosis to get should be accurate, and the way bed news is delivered Should be done in a more professional manner but I’m pleased to say my dog does not have Ivdd just a slightly dodgy hip related to age as my French bulldog is eight years old. The life expectancy of a French bulldog is approximately 12 years old. However, it’s important to note that they have provided my dog with anti-reflux medications for many years at a discounted rate which has been a great help and the staff have always been really wonderful but they are very limited in what they can help with and what they’re able to do because they don’t have the facilities that other private vets would have sadly. Once she was diagnosed with acid reflux by a private vet, I forwarded on her records to the PDSA and they have taken excellent care of her for many years in that regard, so it’s not being all bad. It’s important to realise that they are a charity with limited money and resources so they can only help in the very basic ways that’s why it’s always best to take your dog to a private vet to get the diagnosis and run the tests and then go to the PDSA, donations are important to them that’s why a few years ago I gifted them £500 as a thank you for their service to my French bulldog lady Skyler. Eg PDSA will charge you £20 to see vet private rent will charge you £52. So the PDSA can be really helpful for these needing basic medication, but anything more than that you really need to get your dog insured and make generous donations whenever you can and even when necessary, refer them to a private vet for additional tests and support. Does PDSA is very limited in what they can offer.

Kirkdale and Huyton PDSA saved my 4 year old frenchie fur baby, he attended at first which was put down to gastroenteritis, later that night he was rushed back in and we are told he had swallowed something which caused and obstruction and was in a life threatening condition, I’m so grateful they managed to save him and he’s on the road to recovery. Thank you so much x

Even though both dogs are registered they won't see either of them for a skin condition, both of them suffer from bad skin and it's common in rottweilers. They asked for a photo online, said they won't treat them and gave us the fantastic advice of "getting financial help to go private" I am not alone. It's not fit for purpose anymore unless the purpose is to pay a load of on TV adverts and rake money in for the directors. They are no longer even accepting new referrals.

I had a French bull dog that died from grade 5 Ivdd but before it got to that stage i was in and out of the pdsa with him arching his back and screaming in pain they always just sent him home even the other day he was in pain he was walking but in pain they sent him home again couple of hours later he was crawling with his 2 front paws his back legs had went and his bowels they still wouldn’t do anything they just wanted to put him to sleep which they did and first thing they say is can you make a donation it’s literally all they care about and now my world is empty I hate the pdsa with a passion my other little dog suffers really bad with her skin and ears they’ve never done nothing to find the problem to this either just charge me for consultations and steroids and say There’s nothing they can do unfortunately they are a disgrace not fit for purpose get your pet insured and stay away from pdsa if you love your animals

Pdsa margate. The waiting room is empty but staff say they are busy and there are no appointments available. Phone constantly ringing while staff ignore it. When you are lucky enough to see a vet they are uncaring and seem rather untrained as vets.

It’s understandable that PDSA have moved to emergencies only and that they have stopped taking on new pets. I have seen people misuse them, blatantly saying it’s a friends dog!?! I’ve never had a problem and I have learnt to look after my cats skin better, rather than relying on them. I guess it won’t be long before they close due to lack of donations I will be sad to see them go as I always get a good level of care as does flfi
