READ YOUR POLICY. Insurance is a scam. They hook you with lower prices and empty promises. I put insurance on my dog when she was 3 months old. Fast forward to 3 months later, my 6 month old puppy tore her cruciate ligament. I was fully aware of the injury and illness waiting period and fully expected her injury to fall under injury coverage I had purchased. It was specifically spelled out on my Policy Application under "Your Pets Coverage Begins: Illness: 14 days [...], Accident: 3 days [...]." After waiting 42 days for them to process my claim, it was rejected. That's when I found out about the 6 month waiting period for cruciate tears. After calling customer service it was described to me as "an anomaly" that she even tore her cruciate at 6 months of age. Despite it being an anomaly, it can not/will not be covered because it happened before my waiting period. I argued although I haven't held the policy for 6 months it should be covered based on the fact that I was a responsible pet owner and purchased insurance as soon as I could for her. That wasn't enough. Despite my efforts to work with PetsBest they rejected coverage because the injury occurred before my waiting period was up. Footing me with a $5,000 surgery scheduled for the 28th and my monthly insurance payments that have not caused me any sort financial relief. If they cared about pets and prided themselves on their coverage they would have a heart to work with me and make things right in this rather unusual and rare situation. With that being said, I can NOT recommend purchasing a policy from them. I have done some more research and came to the conclusion "Pumpkin" is a better option. They are more expensive, but from what I have seen all of their waiting periods are shorter and they have less excluded items.
