I adopted my dog at 10 years old - she came with an ear infection and bad teeth - cost me over $2000 within the first few months. Since then, she has had two other ear infections. I have also spent money on trying to identify causes, including putting her on environmental drops. Of course, none of those are covered even minimally. Adopting an older dog is probably something I will never do again due to the high cost of insurance and the lack of support for conditions such as that. It would be wonderful if insurance would say that they would help with 20% reimbursement after a deductible of $500 for issues that come with adopted dogs - to separate pre-existing conditions with new conditions. I have been credited with a procedure for a breast mass (benign thankfully) and recently for the consequences of a car hitting me while walking my dog. I appreciated the help with that cost very much. Overall, I am satisfied with the insurance but do wish consideration would be given to the adoption of older dogs, or dogs with conditions.
