I am really grateful for pets best insurance, I have never had an issue with claim denial, and their plans offer extensive cover at the best price I found through my research. My golden retriever had a routine dental and ended up getting severe post op ileus where he was in and out of the hospital for months. He now has IBD. we have filed almost 30k in claims. My only issue is how difficult the policy makes it to increase coverage once you’ve chosen a plan. If you decide you want to increase coverage amount, you have to go an entire year claim free. My goldens renewal period is in August, and unfortunately he just had a hospital claim 3 weeks past his renewal period in sept. (He would have to go August-August claim free) So because he will be 11 months claim free vs 12, we still have to wait 2 years to up the coverage. Before this visit he was 8 months claim free. I understand it’s a policy, and I’m sure all insurance companies are this way. My advice is when getting pet insurance, get the total coverage that you can possibly get because you likely won’t be able to change it if your dog ever develops an unexpected chronic illness. I have the unlimited coverage plan, but I really want to increase his reimbursement percentage and decrease his deductible. At this point, that seems nearly impossible though unfortunately.
