We have just returned from a trip to Quito, La Selva Lodge and the Galapagos from November 30th to Dec 16th. We had the trip of a lifetime. We, unfortunately, cannot provide the names of all the people we interacted with in Quito. From the gentlemen who picked us up and took us back to the airport on numerous occasions to the lady who took us on a very informative four-hour walking tour of old Quito, and to the staff of the Casa Gangotena. The trip to La Selva Eco Lodge at the headwaters of the Amazon River was incredible and our guides Edwin and Henry worked hard to make it unforgettable. They allowed us time to take photos and imparted an incredible amount of knowledge about the area, the birds, other animals and mammals. The piranha fishing was a once in a lifetime thrill. The lodge itself is wonderful and the whole experience was better than anything we had anticipated. Once we returned to Quito, the staff at the Casa Gangotena went out of their way to have our laundry done before we left the next day for the Galapagos. The hotel itself is lovely. On our arrival at the Island of Baltra we were met by our guides from the M/Y Grace, Alex and Carolina. These two are incredibly knowledgeable and passionate people. The crew of the Grace were wonderful, I don’t remember all their names, but all should be told that they made our trip and have made us want to return to do the south west itinerary. Joseph, the manager, was well organized and made the trip seamless, Julio, the barkeep among all other jobs, seemed tireless, the chef created amazing dishes, Freddie and Pablo, the drivers of the boats to the Islands, were very skilled and the Captain who never seemed to sleep was obviously firmly in charge of all. The ship itself is lovely. Our heartfelt thanks to the company and all of the staff for this unforgettable experience.
