I feel we have been misled by the reviews that were on the website. We went for the driver that had the most high-ratings in our search. I am led to believe that these reviews were fake because I find that impossible as it was a horrible experience for us. A lot of furniture were destroyed in the move, including missing legs on tables which were crushed, as well as scratches on surfaces of all of our expensive wooden furniture. They dragged the furniture across concrete floors, instead of carrying them by hand, so the bases of the furniture have also been scratched very bad. They tossed my laptop bag onto the floor, when they could clearly see that they were laptops, too. We had a cat. In the van, unfortunately, the cat bag broke, and she got scared and hid under the seat for almost the whole journey and I could not get her out. As a joke, the driver said the cat is "finished", she is "gone", and "dead". I was very anxious about the safety of my cat and he made me feel very upset. Thankfully, my father brought a cat carrier to the destination and we were able to get her to her new home safely. When we arrived in Manchester, they made me feel uncomfortable because they were perving at women on the street and saying how beautiful they are, and even just staring at women as they drive past. This was horribly sexist. Lastly, they did not speak any English and could not understand basic questions such as, "how tall is the van?". I repeated it several times, even using body language to ask, until I used Google Translate for him to understand. We ordered a large van that shouldn't have been over a certain height, but we got an even larger van which meant we could not fit the van in the parking space of the destination. They got irritated when we arrived that they could not fit the van in the parking area, making the move even longer, which was not our fault. They also didn't know basic numbers in English. When we got to the storage unit, I was amazed at how poor they were at arranging the items in. Obviously, you would start with the larger items first and stack the smaller items, but they started with the smaller items and didn't even bother stacking boxes on top of each other, which was really confusing. I would like to be compensated, at least for the entire deposit we initially made, as damage was done and this was not a nice experience at all. I am also unsure if I could trust the website moving forward because out of the several house moves I have done in my life, this was clearly the worst experience. I am also physically sick. I had visible back pain, and they kept making jokes about me being crippled and even forced me to carry some heavy items when we hired them to do so. That was unacceptable. To top it off, the company accused me of lying about the language barrier. I used very broken English as I am used to talking to foreigners, but even that proved to be difficult. You can call the driver yourself and see if you can have a regular conversation in English with them. Their response: "It seems there is a small problem with your statement: you complain they didn't understand English, then you mention they made jokes about you - to be honest, making jokes in a foreign languages require an above average language skill. As well you mentioned they was staring at women on the street and saying how beautiful they are, I also wonder how you could understand what they say, based on your previous statement." You can make jokes with body language e.g. - mimicking my movements, and they didn't use full sentences e.g. using words such as "beautiful", and it's quite obvious when they have their gaze set on women and tracking them with their eyes that you can interpret it.
