I use this bus service daily even though its a short distance to my home. On average I spend £80's a month to and from work, it is safer than walking home after a long day at work or the gym. When the tap on tap off service started I was happy to try it. I then was overcharged more than once so I stopped using it and went back to paper tickets which has never been an issue until today. I recently got a new bankcard that has been sporadic. Today I get the bus from the station 5/or 6 @ 18:16, 18:18 , I asked for my usual ticket, the bus driver asked me to tap on , I politley said please may I have a paper ticket, he wants to know why!( which raised my anxiety levels as there was a que of people waiting to get on). I just want to pay normally, I explained that I'd been overcharged before . So in the meantime people are pushing passed me making me feel in the way and holding up proceedings, then of course my card didnt work because of the issues I'd been having. I accept my card was having issues, and sods law after that episode it was declined and didnt work. That I can deel with as I work in retail and customer services! It was more about how I was made to feel! I'd caused a big fuss ! he asked if I was going to pay or not! Firstly I am not incompetant, secondly how dare a member of Reading buses embarass me and make me feel that way. I was not drunk, disorderly , rude or being disruptive! I'm pretty disapointed and will look to walk more in future.
