If you want something delivered, go for dpd and DHL or ask businesses to use their services rather than this joke of a Royal Mail. I paid £10 for a "the next morning before 9" delivery. I was waiting and later that day I found a note in my mailbox. When I called a customer support, asking why the deliveryman didnt contact me, that he's downstairs, the customer support person said that they dont do that ("because it would take a lot of time"). I said that OBVIOUSLY calling my phone and buzzing the doorbell (which we dont have) would take the same time. The person asked me "Do you know any other company that calls?" I said that yes, that everytime I had something delivered the person calls me, this RoyalMail customer support person hanged up on me (!!!!!!!) :DDD Im not even kidding. So, for this obviously nervous, rude person (and obviously not very knowledgable about the industry), who has no business working in customer support and everyone else: companies, who OF COURSE contact the customer about the delivery: dpd, DHL (and I am sure many others, as contacting is a normal procedure)
